Color Memory Game · Free

Dialed is the color memory challenge that reveals how poorly you remember colors.

Humans can't reliably recall colors. This is a simple game to see how good (or bad) you are at it. We'll show you five colors, then you'll try and recreate them.

What makes Dialed GG different from a normal color game

Real color science, not random guessing

Colors are converted to the CIELAB perceptual color space, and distance is scored using CIEDE2000 — the gold standard for color difference measurement. Every score is a real measure of your color perception.

Precise HSB sliders for recreation

Instead of multiple choice, you recreate each color from scratch using Hue, Saturation, and Brightness sliders. Getting the right hue family earns bonus points — wrong hue on vivid colors costs you.

Solo, daily, and multiplayer modes

Play solo to improve your personal best. Tackle the daily challenge where everyone on Earth gets the same five colors. Or host a live round with friends — shared timer, same colors, closest match wins.

Free, instant, no barrier to entry

No downloads. No signups. No accounts. Open your browser, pick your mode, and start playing. It works on every device: desktop, tablet, or phone.

The loop is simple — memorize, recreate, score

Each round follows the same five-step sequence. The game stays simple so your color memory is what gets tested — not your ability to navigate menus.

01

Memorize the color

A swatch appears on screen. You have a few seconds to study it. Every detail matters — hue family, saturation intensity, brightness level. Your brain will forget most of it within seconds.

02

Swatch disappears

The color is removed from view. Now you're working from visual memory alone. You have to reconstruct what you just saw using nothing but your recollection.

03

Recreate using HSB sliders

Use the Hue (0-360°), Saturation (0-100%), and Brightness (0-100%) sliders to recreate the color. Fine-tune each channel until it looks right. Then lock in your guess.

04

Score out of 10

Each round is scored 0-10 using CIELAB perceptual distance. The closer your HSB match is to the original in perceptual space, the higher your score.

05

Compare and share

Five rounds, max 50. Post your score, challenge a friend to beat it, or jump into the daily challenge where everyone competes on the same set of colors.

It turns something invisible into something measurable.

Most people assume they remember colors fairly well. Dialed GG reveals the gap between what you think you remember and what you actually recall — and that gap is wider than you expect.

0-360°

Full hue spectrum

Colors are drawn from the entire hue wheel, not just primary colors. Pastels, neons, earth tones, near-grays — every round tests a different part of your visual system.

CIEDE2000

Perceptual scoring

The scoring algorithm uses CIEDE2000, the industrial standard for color difference. This isn't a multiple-choice game — you have to genuinely get close to score well.

50pt

Meaningful range

With a 50-point maximum, each round matters. High scores cluster in the 35-45 range. Scores above 45 are rare. A perfect 50 is the holy grail — and nearly impossible.

Daily

Global daily challenge

Every day, the entire world plays the same five colors. One shot per day. No practice runs. Your score sits alongside everyone else's on a single global leaderboard.

What Is Dialed GG? How The Color Memory Game Works

A clear explanation of what Dialed GG is, who made it, how the scoring works, and how to get started.

What exactly is Dialed GG?

Dialed.gg (also written as dialedgg, dialled gg, or dialed. gg) is a free online color memory game that challenges how well humans can actually recall colors. The premise is simple: you're shown five colors one at a time, given a brief moment to memorize each one, then asked to recreate it from memory using Hue, Saturation, and Brightness sliders. Your score is calculated using perceptual color science.

Unlike other color games, Dialed GG doesn't use multiple choice. You can't guess your way to a good score. You have to genuinely remember the color and reconstruct it on an HSB field. That distinction is what makes the game both frustrating and addictive.

How is scoring calculated?

Each color is converted to the CIELAB perceptual color space. The distance between your guess and the original is measured using CIEDE2000, which accounts for how human vision actually perceives color differences. Getting the right hue family earns bonus points, while wrong hues on vivid colors incur a larger penalty.

Maximum score per round is 10, for a total of 50 across five rounds. Most players score between 4-8 per round on their first attempt. High scores in the 8-9 range per round are exceptional.

What game modes are available?

There are three core modes: Solo — play at your own pace, practice, and track your personal best. Daily — one shot at five global colors that everyone on Earth gets. Multiplayer — host a live round or share a challenge link for asynchronous play. All modes support Easy difficulty (HSB hints), Hard mode (no hints after the first round), and Brutal mode (every color is shown once before any can be recreated).

Yes. Dialed GG is 100% free. No downloads, no signups, no accounts needed. Just open your browser and start playing. It works on desktop, tablet, and phone.

Being "dialed in" means being perfectly tuned, focused, and precise. The name reflects the core question of the game: how precisely can you match a color from memory alone? Are you truly dialed in?

Each round is scored 0-10 using CIELAB perceptual color space and CIEDE2000 color difference formula. Five rounds make a game, max score 50. Getting the right hue family earns bonus points. Wrong hue on vivid colors costs more points than on muted colors.

No account needed. You can play solo instantly. If you want to post a score or join multiplayer, you only need to enter your initials — no email, no password, no personal data.

Dialed GG works on any modern browser — Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge — on desktop, tablet, and mobile. The interface adapts to your screen size. Touch controls on mobile let you drag sliders just like on desktop.

Yes. You can host a live multiplayer round where everyone plays the same colors on a shared timer. Or create a challenge link that friends can play asynchronously. All scores are compared at the end.
